Durch ein Radio-Feature erfuhr ich von Jungvögeln, deren Väter sie, aus verschiedenen Gründen, nicht die Gesänge ihrer Art lehrten. Die Jungvögel griffen deswegen auf andere akustische Reize zurück, was zu neuen Gesängen und in nächster Generation zu dem Entstehen einer neuen Art führte. Ich übertrug den Klangkörper „Tier“ auf eine hohle Form, eine Glasvase, deren Formwandel ich nach folgenden Abläufen beobachtete: Der Körper 1 wird mit Ton ummantelt. Der Ton-Mantel ergibt den Körper 2, der wiederum ummantelt wird. Dies wird fünf mal wiederholt. Nun werden die gewonnenen Formen akurat fotografiert. Durch Nachzeichnen der Objekt-Umrisse entsteht die Option, die Wandlung anhand der überlappenden Zeichnungen nachzuvollziehen. Die Collage say galapagos beinhaltet einen bildnerischen Verweis auf den gefiederten Klangkörper.

say galapagos – The work takes up the fact of “species multiplication”. Through a radio feature I learned about young birds whose fathers, for various reasons, did not teach them the songs of their species. The young birds therefore took up to other acoustic stimuli, which led to new songs and in the next generation to the emergence of a new species. I transferred the sound body “animal” to a hollow form, a glass vase, whose change of form I observed according to the following processes: The body 1 is covered with clay (»Ton« in German means sound aswell as clay) in. The clay mantle results in body 2, which in turn is mantled. This is repeated five times. Now the shapes obtained are accurately photographed. By tracing the outlines of the object, the option of reproducing the trans-formation by means of the overlapping drawings is created.
